Update: Upcoming Murder Trial Info for Ret Sgt Ralph Harper
09/16/23 - Saint Louis Police Officers Association Update from case Detective: Regarding the murder trial for retired SLMPD Sergeant Ralph Harper. At 1:00pm this afternoon (9/18/23), the defendant pled guilty to Murder 2nd Degree, Robbery 1st Degree and two counts of Armed Criminal Action. As part of a plea agreement with the State, he was sentenced to 20 years on the Murder 2nd Degree charge, 15 years on the Robbery 1st Degree charge and 6 years on the two Armed Criminal Action charges with the terms to be run concurrently. The Harper family was present in the courtroom and heard the defendant admit his responsibility in the fatal shooting. They are thankful for the support from the SLMPD and are relieved to finally have a conclusion to this tragic incident. |

09/14/23 - El Paso Municipal Police Officers' Association On Wednesday, Sept. 13, the community was invited to meet and hear from the finalists for the El Paso Police Chief position. The four finalists are Steve Dye, Peter Pacillas, David Ransom and Victor Zarur. Steve Dye was the Police Chief for Grand Prairie, Texas from 2011 to 2020 where he was also the deputy city manager and is currently the city manager. |

Jury finds Facundo Chavez guilty of shooting, killing Deputy Peter Herrera
08/03/23 - El Paso Municipal Police Officers' Association A jury found Facundo Chavez guilty of capital murder for the killing of El Paso County Sheriff's Deputy Peter Herrera. The jury deliberated for about 40 minutes after hearing closing arguments Thursday morning. Chavez shot and killed Herrera during a traffic stop in San Elizario on March 22, 2019. His sentencing will be on Friday at 9 a.m. |

07/30/23 - El Paso Municipal Police Officers' Association A Hero Walk was held at Del Sol Medical Center on Friday to honor fallen El Paso Police Officer Fernando De La Torre. The cause of De La Torre's death was not provided. Officer De La Torre's family along with staff at Del Sol Medical Center quietly lined the walls of the hospital to honor the patient and show respect for his family. |

07/17/23 - El Paso Municipal Police Officers' Association Alamogordo Police Officer Anthony Ferguson has died after being shot early Saturday morning, July 15, in the line of duty, the department announced in a news release issued at 11 p.m. on Sunday. The rate is $2946 per month, which is the same rate as our last contract. As this is a 3-year contract and the largest expenditure we pay (nearly $36k per year), I find it appropriate to put this out to all members. |
