Today more than 2,300 law enforcement officers put their lives on the line each day to serve our community. They serve with valor and distinction, dedicating their lives protecting others. The FOP celebrates the life and sacrifice of police officers who have paid the price for our protection. Sadly, the number of Jacksonville law enforcement officers who have been killed in the line of duty since 1840 include 63 officers. The FOP is dedicated to honoring each of these heroes through the annual memorial ceremony held in May as well as its tireless efforts to build a Law Enforcement Officer Memorial in Jacksonville. May we never forget the danger law enforcement officers’ face each day and the bravery they exemplify when placed in dangerous situations!

Canine Officers play a vital role in law enforcement agencies across the world. With specialized training canines and humans develop a relationship, trust and an unmatched bond to protect each other. These officers face the same dangers as a uniformed police officer, chase the same suspects and investigate crimes alongside men and women in uniform.
